Tammy Metzger

Tammy Metzger has been coaching here at Cycle University since early 2006. She has experience in endurance cycling & racing, but her passion was found in the sport of triathlon. She got her feet wet in sprint-distance triathlon, and over the course of 2-3 seasons, worked her way up to an Ironman South Africa finish in April 2008. Having come from a sedentary background, Tammy has the perspective to understand and help those trying to make healthy lifestyle change a reality, as well as the education and experience to take the more serious athlete to the next level of competition.

Tammy holds a BS in Exercise Science & Wellness from Bastyr University, and is currently working on her Master's degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Texas at Austin. She has attained her Level 2 (Expert) Coaching Certification through USA Cycling, and was an attendee of the 2006 USAC Cycling Summit, where she embraced the opportunity to learn from many brilliant minds including Joel Friel, Hunter Allen, Kristen Dieffenbach PhD, Andy Pruittt EdD, Massimo Testa MD, Stephen McGregor PhD, and Bob Seebohar RD.

While graduate studies and coaching are her top priorities, Tammy continues to train for and race running and triathlon events. Her next big challenge will be Ironman Arizona in 2009!
