Specialized Road and Mountain Test Bikes at Cycle U

Once again Cycle U has brought in some of the hottest Specialized bikes for our customers to test ride through late summer. For the past few years Cycle U has provided several Roubaixs, Tarmacs and Rubys for our customers to test ride. This year we are adding the Specialized Full Suspension (FSR) and Stumpjumper Hard Tail bikes to our test bike fleet.

Last year we had a lot of interest in FSR and hardtail mountain bikes at our West Seattle location. We know that finding the right type of mountain bike can be difficult, so we decided to join the Specialized FSR Test program this winter to help our customers find the perfect bike. We currently have a Large Stumpjumper Comp 29er available for testing, with more sizes and models coming in the following couple of months. These bikes will be available at our West Seattle location only.

In addition to the FSR Test mountain bikes, we have 54, 56, 58cm Roubaixs and a 51cm Ruby available for testing. We will be getting more road test bikes in additional sizes over the next couple of months as well.

2012 Stumpjumper FSR Comp 29er Test Bike:

The Stumpy FSR Comp 29 is built from an M5 aluminum frame with 130mm of rear wheel travel, a custom Fox Triad II shock with AUTOSAG, Fox Evolution F130 RL air-sprung fork, and a custom SRAM S-1250 10-speed XC Trail double crankset.

M5 hydroformed alloy frame with 29er geometry, 130mm of travel, tapered head tube, 142mm dropouts, PF30 BB, and sealed cartridge bearing pivots makes for one mean trail-slaying machine
Custom Fox Triad II with the ground-breaking AUTOSAG function and on-the-fly, 3-position damping adjustment between a plush fully open, a more firm ProPedal and a lockout, for ideal performance over varying terrain
Fox Evolution series F130 RL fork has features open bath damping, 130mm of travel, 15QR axle and a tapered steerer tube for precise and reliable handling
Roval 29 rims mated to Specialized Hi Lo hubs, a 142+ rear hub spacing, and 12mm thru-axle increase wheel stiffness for more confident riding.
Both 2Bliss ready, the Control Purgatory 29 x 2.2" front tire is aggressive for varied terrain, and the Ground Control 29 x 2.1" rear tire rolls fast with ample traction in turns
Custom SRAM S-1250 XC Trail double crankset for improved ground clearance and a custom alloy guard for chain retention during high-speed descents
Custom Avid Elixir 7 SL brakes with alloy-backed semi-metallic pads for smooth modulation and stopping power
SRAM X9, 10-speed mid-cage rear derailleur for smooth and reliable shifts

About the Specialized Test Bike Program at Cycle U

Road bikes can be tested over a weekend for $75 (Friday pickup, Monday return). If you decide to purchase a bike from us within 60 days of the test ride, we will apply $50 of the bike rental to the purchase of a new bike. If you need a little longer with the bike, you can rent from Monday – Friday for $125, with $100 going towards the purchase of a new bike.

Mountain bikes can be tested over a weekend for $100 (Friday pickup, Monday return). If you decide to purchase a bike from us within 60 days of the test ride we will apply $75 of the bike rental to the purchase of a new bike. If you need a little longer with the bike, you can rent from Monday – Friday for $175, with $150 going towards the purchase of a new bike.

At the end of the season we sell the bikes at a discounted price (typically 20-30% off) that reflects the amount of use they have received. All test bikes we sell are in good working condition and we replace cables, tires, and bar tape as necessary before selling.

What we ask of our test riders:
- Bikes are brought back to us clean and ready to ride. Do not pressure wash bikes. A $35 cleaning fee may be applied.
- Do not race these bikes. They are intended for demo rides only.
- Damage to bikes will result in additional costs.
